Takeshi Kanaya (he/him) is currently completing a Masters of Psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McMaster University where he specialized in neuroscience and behaviour. He was born in Yokohama, Japan and is fluent in both Japanese and English.

Over the past 7 years, Takeshi has worked as a Psychometrist specializing in psycho-educational testing. Currently, held a role of case manager of psychometric testing, assisting staff and practicum students in growing their clinical toolkit, at a psychology clinic in Richmond Hill, ON.

In February 2023, Takeshi began his work with Trauma Practice (traumapractice.org) co-leading trauma support groups. His experience with Trauma Practice allows him to have experience with the tri-phasic trauma therapy approach offered at Bear Psychology. He believes in establishing a safe and trusting relationship as a foundation for any therapeutic progress through his compassionate and genuine interest in others.
